Builder in liquidation: the Northern Territory
This page covers what is specific to the Northern Territory. The steps to take first, and where to get help, are on the main page and apply wherever you are.
The Northern Territory operates a fidelity fund arrangement for prescribed residential building work, administered through the NT building regulator.
We have not verified the current NT position
We have not confirmed the current scheme name, the thresholds, the cover limits or the claim process against the NT Building Practitioners Board, and we will not state figures we have not read on the regulator's own material. The Board is the authority.
Distance is a practical problem here
Finding a builder willing to take over an unfinished house is harder in the Territory than anywhere else, simply because there are fewer of them and the travel is real. Start that conversation earlier than you would elsewhere.
The scheme
We have not verified how the Northern Territory's arrangements work, so we are not going to describe them. Check with the NT Building Practitioners Board before assuming cover exists.
